ENA Economy 2017-08-05 07:08:19 <p><strong>New Delhi, Aug 5 (KNN) </strong>With one month into the Goods and Services Tax (GST), the GST council will be meeting for the first time since the implementation of the new tax regime. E-Way bill, revision on tax rates are expected to be the key issues that will be raised by different representatives during the meeting.</p> <p>The government has largely maintained that the roll-out of the goods and services tax has been smooth and the dedicated departments are facilitating the transition.</p> <p>There have been demands by various sectors across the state regarding the tax rates.</p> <p>Fabric and garments sector have sent representations seeking a lowering of tax rate to 5 per cent.</p> <p>Likewise MSMEs in Punjab have requested exemption on the unorganized labour under the One Nation One Tax policy.</p> <p>These concerns are likely to be tabled at the GST council meeting headed by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.</p> <p>Also norms for the eWay bill is to be finalised at the GST council meet today.
