ENA Sectors 2017-10-16 09:52:50 <p><strong>New Delhi, Oct 16 (KNN) </strong>With the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) issuing notification mandating testing of imported toys and clearance by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the importers are facing a tough time, Toy Association of India (TAI) informed.</p> <p>Ajay Agarwal, President of The Toy Association of India spoke to KNN and told that this is a good decision by Government of India and will ensure circulation of safe and secure toys in the market.</p> <p>He however stated that the government should have given relaxation period of 3-4 months to the importers before implementation.</p> <p>According to Ajay, this decision has negatively impacted the business of importers of toys and raw-materials as they were not expecting this sudden decision and for now importers are focusing only on stock-clearance only.</p> <p>He said that at present India lacks infrastructure to test toys and the testing costs are really high.</p> <p>For example to test an electronic toy a company has to shell Rs.20000.</p> <p>He suggested that testing centers and laboratories should be set up and mobile vans should be placed for testing purposes.</p> <p>He further informed that the local manufactures have also started testing their toys on a large scale because of this decision by DGFT. <strong>(KNN/AG)</strong></p> 18228 http://knnindia.co.in/news/newsdetails/sectors/compulsory-testing-of-toys-has-increased-the-woes-of-importers-toy-association-of-india 2017-10-16 09:52:50 knnindia.co.in
