    <fulldesc>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;New Delhi, Dec 20 (KNN)&lt;/strong&gt; Bolstered by the success of the project on muslin khadi, the West Bengal Khadi and Village Industries Board (WBKVIB) is taking up a project for development of silk khadi in 14 of the states 23 districts.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&#13;
&lt;p&gt;Under this project, artisans will be trained to come out with the products to meet present market demand, said CEO of WBKVIB.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&#13;
&lt;p&gt;For this, WBKVIB will provide them with infrastructure and importantly, create a platform for marketing of their products, he added.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&#13;
&lt;p&gt;At present there are about 31 khadi institutions and societies working in the area of silk khadi in Bengal.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&#13;
&lt;p&gt;Among other issues that will be addressed under this project include storage facility, quality control and testing facility, and branding.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&#13;
&lt;p&gt;The 14 districts earmarked for the project have been divided into two categories   backward and non-backward.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&#13;
&lt;p&gt;In the backward category districts, 2,340 artisans will be trained while in the non-backward category districts, 1,900 artisans will be imparted training.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&#13;
&lt;p&gt;The districts that have been selected under backward category are Paschim Medinipur, Purba Medinipur, Bankura, Birbhum, Malda, Murshidabad, Purulia, Dakshin Dinajpur and Uttar Dinajpur.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&#13;
&lt;p&gt;While in the non-backward category are Purba Bardhaman, Paschim Bardhaman, Hooghly, Howrah and Nadia.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
