ENA Sectors 2018-12-20 07:19:38 <p><strong>New Delhi, Dec 20 (KNN)</strong> Bolstered by the success of the project on muslin khadi, the West Bengal Khadi and Village Industries Board (WBKVIB) is taking up a project for development of silk khadi in 14 of the states 23 districts.</p> <p>Under this project, artisans will be trained to come out with the products to meet present market demand, said CEO of WBKVIB.</p> <p>For this, WBKVIB will provide them with infrastructure and importantly, create a platform for marketing of their products, he added.</p> <p>At present there are about 31 khadi institutions and societies working in the area of silk khadi in Bengal.</p> <p>Among other issues that will be addressed under this project include storage facility, quality control and testing facility, and branding.</p> <p>The 14 districts earmarked for the project have been divided into two categories backward and non-backward.</p> <p>In the backward category districts, 2,340 artisans will be trained while in the non-backward category districts, 1,900 artisans will be imparted training.</p> <p>The districts that have been selected under backward category are Paschim Medinipur, Purba Medinipur, Bankura, Birbhum, Malda, Murshidabad, Purulia, Dakshin Dinajpur and Uttar Dinajpur.</p> <p>While in the non-backward category are Purba Bardhaman, Paschim Bardhaman, Hooghly, Howrah and Nadia.</p> 21599 https://knnindia.co.in/news/newsdetails/sectors/wbkvib-will-take-up-a-project-for-development-of-silk-khadi-in-14-districts 2018-12-20 07:19:38 knnindia.co.in
