New Delhi, 12 Jan (KNN) As per media reports, the planing of the Bharat Craft portal by the Ministry of MSME to aid small business specifically in the rural and tribal areas has been stopped.

Due to lack of interest from private sector for outsourcing, the government decided to put the project on hold.

Then previous MSME Minister Nitin Gadkari had announced regarding this portal in August 2019.

Its model was proposed to be based on Government e-Marketplace (GeM), and was planned to be open to all private consumers and was billed as the first foray by the government into the e-retail space.

Revenue generation of INR 10 trillion was estimated from this project over two to three years.

However the real figures may turn out to be lower, which created disinterest in the entire initiative.
