Kanagasabapathy on Sunday said that the revised power tariff in the state will spell doom for the MSME sector that were already bogged down by GST, COVID, and rise in fuel price. The revised power tariff of the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd (TANGEDCO) came into effect on Saturday despite opposition from Industrial bodies. <a href="https://bit.ly/3B9mZSj"><img alt="FOLLOW US on GOOGLE NEWS" src="https://knnindia.co.in//uploads/gallery/GoogleNews.jpg" style="border-style:solid; border-width:1px; height:95px; margin:1px; width:299px" /></a> Addressing the matter, BHEL Small Industries Association (BHELSIA) president Rajappa Rajkumar, said The MSMEs unit in the state were already under undue stress and the implementation of the revised tariff will result in total disaster for MSME units in Tamil Nadu. The implementation must be paused immediately and there should be further consultations with industry associations. It is very unfortunate that the State Government has imposed huge increase in the power tariff. The objections raised during consultations have been totally ignored, said BHELSIA in a press release. The MSME units in Tiruchi region were already in a highly critical condition due to general recession since 2014. Most of the units were under severe stress and 25 percent of the units had become NPA, leaving several workers jobless, he said. The industrial bodies in the state are urging the government to roll back its decision as the increased power tariff will at least force 50 per cent of the industries to shut down.
