ENA State 2023-05-09 14:35:12 <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>Nagaur, May 9 (KNN)</strong> Large reserves of lithium have been traced in the Degana municipality of Nagaur district in Rajasthan, as per officials of the Rajasthan government and the Geological Survey of India (GSI).</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">According to a report by TOI, the reserves found in the north western state is claimed to have much higher capacity of lithium than the estimated 5.9 million tonnes of the metal found recently in Jammu and Kashmir. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong><a href="https://bit.ly/3B9mZSj"><img alt="FOLLOW US on GOOGLE NEWS" src="https://knnindia.co.in//uploads/gallery/GoogleNews.jpg" style="border-style:solid; border-width:1px; height:95px; margin:1px; width:299px" /></a></strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The newly discovered reserves have an estimated capacity of lithium to be capable of meeting 80 percent of Indias total demand.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">This can majorly help India reduce its dependency on China substantially.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Currently, India is completely dependent on foreign imports, mainly from China, for its lithium needs. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Between 2020 to 2021, India imported lithium worth Rs 6,000 crore, out of which Rs 3,500 crore of lithium was bought from China. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Lithium is a non-ferrous metal which is used to make rechargeable batteries for smartphones, laptops and electric vehicles. <em><strong>(KNN Bureau)</strong></em></span></p> 33256 https://knnindia.co.in/news/newsdetails/state/large-reserves-of-lithium-found-in-rajasthans-nagaur-district 2023-05-09 14:35:12 knnindia.co.in
