ENA State 2023-08-24 14:17:57 <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>Kolkata, Aug 24 (KNN)</strong> The 7th edition of the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) will have the spotlight on micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME), said Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The international business summit of West Bengal is scheduled to take place from November 21-22 with an aim to generate more employment opportunities.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong><a href="https://bit.ly/3B9mZSj"><img alt="FOLLOW US on GOOGLE NEWS" src="https://knnindia.co.in//uploads/gallery/GoogleNews.jpg" style="border-style:solid; border-width:1px; height:95px; margin:1px; width:299px" /></a></strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The focus of this years BGBS will be the MSME. This sector generates more employment. I will ask everybody to draw investment to the MSME sector, said the CM while inaugurating an exhibition of handicraft items at Milan Mela in Kolkata on Wednesday.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Acknowledging the job-generating might of MSME sector, she said larger industries like cement-producing units brought investments but they generated fewer jobs compared to the MSMEs.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The Bengal government will extend all kinds of assistance to those who would invest in the MSME sector. Leather units have shifted to Calcutta from Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh. A total of 2.5 lakh employment opportunities have been created in the leather units in the state. In the future, five lakh more employment opportunities will be created as the state would spend about Rs 500 crore to develop infrastructure, said the CM.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The chief minister also announced several facilities for the MSME sector during the programme at Milan Mela.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">She invited the weavers to set up exhibition units for their produce. If they come up, the government will provide land to set up the units.
