ENA Sectors 2024-01-23 14:47:55 <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>New Delhi, Jan 23 (KNN) </strong>Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the launch of the Pradhanmantri Suryodaya Yojana (PSY), with the goal of installing rooftop solar power systems in 10 million households nationwide, on Monday.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Modi, highlighting that the scheme aims not only to reduce electricity bills for the poor and middle class but also to enhance India's energy self-reliance, presided over a meeting.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The meeting included senior officials from both the PM office and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">During the meeting, PM Modi urged officials to initiate a widespread national campaign to encourage residential consumers to adopt rooftop solar on a large scale.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The approach of a solar rooftop system involves an upfront capital investment with minimal maintenance costs, varying depending on the size, capacity, and components of the solar photovoltaic panel and battery.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The government currently operates a National Rooftop Scheme, providing financial assistance equivalent to 40 per cent of the capital cost for solar rooftop projects.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">To address instances of fraud, where unauthorised rooftop solar companies or vendors claimed ministry authorisation, the government recently issued notices clarifying that no vendor had been authorised.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong><em>(KNN Bureau)</em></strong></span></p> 36397 https://knnindia.co.in/news/newsdetails/sectors/10-million-rooftop-solar-installations-targeted-pm-suryodaya-yojana 2024-01-23 14:47:55 knnindia.co.in
