Rajasthan CM Presents ‘Developed Rajasthan @2047’ Vision At NITI Aayog Meet

ENA State 2025-05-26 15:49:28 New Delhi, May 26 (KNN) Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma attended the 10th meeting of the NITI Aayog Governing Council on Saturday, held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Chief Minister presented the state's comprehensive 'Developed Rajasthan @2047' vision document, which outlines strategic plans for economic prosperity, sustainable development, and inclusive growth over the next two decades. During the meeting, Sharma emphasised the critical need for enhanced cooperation from the Central government in addressing water and energy security challenges facing the state. He highlighted these sectors as fundamental to Rajasthan's developmental trajectory and stressed the government's commitment to rapid progress across multiple development fronts. The vision document, prepared in alignment with NITI Aayog guidelines, prioritises economic growth, green technology adoption, and social inclusion as core pillars of the state's development strategy. Sharma presented specific infrastructure requirements, including plans for evacuating an additional 40 GW of energy to support the state's ambitious target of 115 GW power generation capacity. In terms of environmental initiatives, the Chief Minister outlined the Rajasthan Circular Economy Incentive Scheme 2025, which allocates Rs 2 crore for research and development in recycling and reuse technologies. The scheme also provides a 0.5 percent interest concession on loans for micro, small, and medium enterprises and start-ups engaged in circular economy practices. Additionally, a Vehicle Scrappage Policy will be introduced to phase out vehicles older than 15 years and promote environmentally sustainable transportation. Sharma made several specific requests to the Central government regarding water resource management. He called for full utilisation of Pong Dam's capacity to ensure partner states receive their complete water allocations and sought early approval for lining the 51.5-kilometer Ferozepur feeder canal. The Chief Minister also requested permission to establish additional units at the Kalisindh and Chhabra thermal power plants. Addressing energy infrastructure needs, Sharma advocated for establishing a new 3,200 MW thermal unit in the state, citing Rajasthan's geographical distance from coal sources. He requested an allocation of 20 lakh metric tonnes of coal from Northern Coalfields to support the state's energy requirements. The Chief Minister expressed appreciation for Central government support on key water projects, including the Ramjal Setu Link Project and the Yamuna Water Agreement, noting their crucial role in ensuring long-term water security for the state. Highlighting investment achievements, Sharma reported that the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit, held during the current government's first year, attracted investment proposals exceeding Rs 35 lakh crore. Projects worth over Rs 3.25 lakh crore from these proposals have already begun implementation on the ground. The Chief Minister attributed this investment success to a series of progressive policies, including the One District One Product Policy 2024, MSME Policy 2024, Export Promotion Policy 2024, and the Integrated Cluster Development Scheme. He announced upcoming policy initiatives, including the Textile and Apparel Policy 2025, Logistics Policy 2025, and Data Center Policy 2025, along with a new industrial policy focused on ease of doing business and green technology research and development. In the employment sector, Sharma reported that the state government has filled over 67,000 positions and initiated recruitment processes for an additional 1.87 lakh vacancies. The government has also launched the Atal Entrepreneurship Program to support youth empowerment, innovation, and start-up-driven job creation. Regarding renewable energy achievements, the Chief Minister noted that Rajasthan leads the country in solar and renewable energy capacity, having added 10,000 MW of renewable energy. The state has made significant progress through initiatives such as PM Kusum Yojana, PM Surya Ghar Yojana, and the New Rajasthan Integrated Clean Energy Policy. To enhance energy security further, Sharma requested an additional allocation of 5,000 MW for energy generation and 5,000 MWh for battery storage under Component-A of PM Kusum Yojana. The Chief Minister also highlighted plans for a new tourism policy to leverage the state's rich cultural heritage and position Rajasthan as a premier global tourism destination. He emphasised the development of a comprehensive Trade Promotion Policy to strengthen the state's trading ecosystem. Sharma concluded by reaffirming the Rajasthan government's commitment to transforming the state into a developed, self-reliant, and inclusive economy by 2047, expressing confidence in achieving these goals under Prime Minister Modi's leadership and guidance.
