ENA State 2025-05-30 15:10:50 <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>New Delhi, May 30 (KNN) </strong>Delhi Power Minister Ashish Sood inaugurated India's first commercially approved and South Asia's largest standalone utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) on Thursday.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The facility, developed by BSES Rajdhani Power Limited, is located at the 33 kV Kilokri Substation in New Delhi.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The Minister described the project as a historic milestone for both Delhi and the nation's energy sector, stating that the system establishes a new benchmark in regulatory and technological innovation across India.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The initiative was developed in collaboration with IndiGrid, GEAPP, and TERI.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">According to Sood, the facility represents South Asia's largest standalone battery inverter-type power setup, utilising advanced technology. The government aims to ensure uninterrupted power supply for residents through this initiative, he noted.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The 20 MW storage system is expected to reduce strain on Delhi's power infrastructure, with plans for further scaling of the model.
