ENA Sectors 2025-06-16 15:37:55 <p><span style="font-size:14px"><strong>Pune, Jun 16 (KNN)</strong> Symbiosis Skills and Professional University (SSPU), Pune, has officially announced a pioneering four-year B.Tech in Defence Technology, commencing with the 2025 26 academic session.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">This marks a significant step for Indias Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives, positioning SSPU at the forefront of skill-based defence education.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">The curriculum has been co-developed with top-tier experts from Indias defence industry. Designed to be 70 per cent hands-on and 30 per cent classroom-based, the structured emphasis on practical training aims to align students capabilities with real-world defence sector requirements.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">A Smart Centre of Excellence Manufacturing Lab has been set up at SSPUs Darawadi campus to support this experiential learning.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Furthermore, SSPU has sealed MoUs with Vasundhara Geo Technologies and DSA Electro &amp; Design, enabling student internships across both private and government defence organizations.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Eligibility criteria for the program include completion of Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Swati Mujumdar, Pro-Chancellor of SSPU, highlighted that the course not only offers immediate industry relevance but also supports the broader goal of empowering students to contribute to national defence and potential export businesses.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">She noted SSPUs industry partnerships spanning over 250 companies built over the past eight years.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14px">Manish Bhardwaj, Technical Advisor to DRDOs Chairman, underscored the growing importance of defence technology, referencing recent operations and advanced homegrown systems such as missiles, drones, and radar.
